Ruth Carbajal-Gronroos, Board Member

Ruth Carbajal-Gronroos   joined the Board of the Friends on the Golden Gate Park Band and started by working at the Festival Information Table at the 2009 Festival.  She is the owner of World Music Tours and organizes trips for university, high school, and community bands as well as orchestras and choirs.  She has offered trips to such places as the Caribbean, Russia, Eastern Mediterranean, and Alaska for interested musicians from around the country.

Ruth began playing trumpet at the age of 14 and has played trumpet in the Watsonville Community Band since 1970.  She was also a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, and is a participating alumnus of the group. She is a member of the Windjammers, a group that preserves traditional circus music.  Her company is a member of the Association of Concert Bands.

She attended San Jose State University, and was the first girl to be in the Spartan Band horn line.

She resides in Salinas with her husband Brad, a euphonium player and a music educator in Salinas.
