Ed Price, Board Member and Festival Co-Coordinator
Ed Price has spent the past 35 years as a
management consultant in hospital and healthcare finance and operations. He has co-founded three successful consulting firms over this period and has designed numerous software tools which
streamline many aspects of hospitals’ Medicare reporting. His current firm, Price Fass & Co., LLC (PFC) specializes in Medicare reimbursement
issues for hospitals, with specific emphasis on Medicare Disproportionate Share (DSH) hospital payments. PFC is one of the pre-eminent consulting firms providing DSH
services to hospitals, and has over 100 hospital clients, including major chains and academic medical centers throughout the country. He has a Bachelors
degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Masters in Management and Healthcare Information Systems from Northwestern University.
Ed has played trumpet and euphonium for many
years. He was the Senior Manager of the Cal Band and remains an active member of the Cal Alumni Band. He currently plays regularly in the Danville Community Band, the San Ramon Symphonic
Band and the Ohlone College Tuba Ensemble.
His father played first trumpet with the Golden
Gate Park Band for many years, starting in the late 1930s through his death in 1974.
When not working, rehearsing, or performing, Ed
enjoys keeping up with his daughters, Andre and Allison, and pursuing his other passion, nature and landscape photography.
