Thor Rayward Ph.D., Chair
Thor Rayward retired after 33 years as a
clinical psychologist in a group practice in Woodside, California. Thor was also a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry in Neuropharmacology, and a Gerontologist at
the Veterans Administration Hospital in Menlo Park, California.
Thor has a B.S. in Pharmacy Science, a B.A. in Psychology, a Masters in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling (M.F.C.C.),
and an M.B.A. All four of these degrees were completed at the College of Notre Dame in Belmont, California. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Stanford University.
Since 2002, Thor has been volunteering for the State of California’s Health and Human Services Department as a certified Ombudsman for Senior Advocacy Services in Sonoma County.
Thor is a San Francisco native and boasts four generations of Raywards that have enjoyed the Golden Gate Park Band. His son, Thor 2, was influenced to
play the trumpet. He won the San Mateo County best musician award in 1980, given by Burlingame High School. Thor 2 had his own "Glen Miller" dance band while in high school
Thor moved from Atherton, California, to San Francisco in 2002, where he and his wife Doris Hadley currently reside. When not traveling, Thor and Doris love
to listen to the terrific Golden Gate Park Band on Sundays. Serving as the Chair of the Friends of the Golden Gate Park Band, starting in spring of 2012, Thor's
mission is to fill the park with band enthusiasts of all ages for all the concerts.
