Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District Non-Marching Band
Julio Reyes, Conductor
The Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District Non-Marching Band, affectionately known as the “Sewer Band,” has been a Marin County tradition since 1957. Founded by Joseph Curatilo, Director of Music for the Dixie School District, along with six other San Rafael residents, the band was formed through a unique connection—they all shared the same sewer district!
The Sewer Band performs throughout the year, with the highlights being their Holiday and Spring Concerts currently held at Angelico Hall in San Rafael. They also bring music to the community at events like the Marin County Fair, San Rafael Farmer’s Market, Golden Gate Park Band Festival, Corte Madera’s Piccolo Pavilion, and various holiday parades. They’ve even surprised commuters by performing aboard the Larkspur Ferry!
Their mission is simple: to provide an outlet for Bay Area musicians while sharing the joy of live music with the community.
